Good Questions to ask about same sex schools? I'm writing a research paper on why people should attend same sex learning institutions.
I need about 10 good questions. That will help prove my thesis of why attending same sex schools is a good idea. I started off writing some questions but i don't think they are right. So here I am, asking my fellow yahooer's; to help me out and think of 10 questions I could use in my paper to contribute to the fact that attending a same sex school is good.
Thank you all in advance. |
I go to an all-women's college. I don't know what questions you could ask, but I can tell you my experience with it:
I used to be really shy in high school, and I think a big part of it was that I was really intimidated by the guys in my class--many of whom were pretty disparaging about any comments a girl made. So I didn't participate as much, and my grades suffered.
Now in my classes, I feel comfortable enough to participate. I am much more active in my education, and it feels wonderful to say something and not worry about being judged and/or worry about being looked at in a sexual way.
Same-sex colleges--especially all women's colleges--are empowering. Girls who go to all-women's colleges are more successful and more confident (it's true--look it up!)

How many people think girls and boys should be in same sex schools? Meaning that girls are in same sex schools being taught by women only and boy schools that are just all I know the teenagers here will complain about this and say no but I'm curious as to what adults and teens say about this. This way you won't have teens having sex outside of marriage and not having to worry about teen single mothers being abandoed by their boyfriends. Also you won't have girls being molested by male teachers and boys being molested by female teachers. I'm talking about same sex elementrary, middle, high schools, and colleges. |
| I am in favor of same sex schools because it will not only reduce molestation of boys and girls and prevent them from indulging in sex before marriage but it will also help them to concentrate more on their studies. One study has shown that those boys and girls who were in same sex schools were better at studies than those who were in co-ed schools. This is because in co-ed schools boys and girls spend most of the time becoming popular with the opposite sex which leaves them with very little time to study. So I think that if boys and girls are in the same sex schools then it will improve the quality of education as well as lead to a more clean society. |
Are most schools in Ireland same sex or coed? Going to Ireland for a year as an exchange student.
Are most schools same sex or co-ed?
I really don't get along with other girls much so it creates a little bit of anxiety for me. Is it bad? I'm American.
Oh, and is it easy to meet guys there if I do end up at a single sex school? |
I'd say half and half. My school is mixed, but there are the sam amount co-ed schools as single sex schools in my town.
Of course there is going to be bitching, but I don't think it is as bad as the American girls. And as for the guys, if your a nice girl and okay looking, you shouldn't worry. |
What are the bad things about same-sex schools? like all- boys or all- girls schools?
Don't bring up the homosexuality thing because there's nothing wrong with that.
But what are the BAD things about same-sex schooling? |
Same-sex schooling deprives most of the students from much interaction with the opposite sex (duh) therefore alot of the students don't know how to communicate with them very well when they leave school and feel uncomfortable because they're not used to it. Some become a little fearful and shy and some will blame their schooling for their inability to flirt very well (lol).
Oh and students might complain about it being boring or hard to find a boyfriend/date for events if they're straight.
Basically they don't know how to treat/act/talk to the opposite sex as well as co-ed students when they leave school. |
Is it better to go to same-sex schools or mixed schools? I liked it in all-girls schools cos I could just be myself and be comfortable and be myself and no one had boyfriends or do any haram things like that. |
| Same sex is best so that when you get to meet the opposite sex, it's more fun |
What is your opinion of same sex public schools? Are you in favor of attending or sending your guy to a single sex school? Why or why not? |
I think it's a terrible idea.
School isn't just about concentrating on your work to the exclusion of everything else.
It's also about learning how to get along with people - all kinds of people; young, old, male, female, black, white, republican, democrat, jock and nerd.
It's about getting to understand why these folks are different from yourself, not just the fact that they are.
It includes gaining real life insight, and not being afraid of major sections of the population due to not having enough contact with them to become comfortable with them. How is a boy supposed to understand that a girl is a human being too who deserves as much consideration, if he never comes into contact with one, and is socialized to believe they are sex objects by peer pressure? How is a girl supposed to understand anything about a boy's motivations if she never has the chance to talk to any?
Segregation on ANY terms, no matter how well intentioned, is a lousy idea, no matter the short term benefits. |
What do teachers out there think of same sex schools /? Iv`e been hearing a lot about them latley. It seems at some schools where they have studied this it is causing to bring down drop out rates, guys are learning better which is bringing up self esteem which is lowering teen suicide. They have proven that girls and boys learn better through different technices and and better in different subjects at different ages.(other countries have known this for some time)But yet we teach them all subjects in the same classroom at the same age. For instance take math. Boys brains are wired differently. They tend to pick up math at a younger age through text work. Girls a few years later through more of a visual way of teaching. This is why girls test scores are usually lower in math and tend to struggle with it more. This is the same for each subject. It also takes the gender compatition away so they are more focused on learning. Mixed time is scheduled through extra activities. It might actually bring back a little shyness between the sexes. |
I think it's a great idea, although I wouldn't agree to a board proposing that all schools be same-sex. It changes the social dynamics so much and in a positive way, usually, especially at the junior high and high school levels. The girls don't have to worry about the boys making fun of them when they start
'developping' and hit puberty and the girls don't have to be so catty towards each other in terms of male attention. The boys won't spend their time trying to be all macho in front of girls or checking the girls out or stuff like that. |
Do liberals think it is right to teach safe same sex in schools? Is it ok to teach our guys how to have safe sex with the same sex in school instead of what use to be considered "normal " |
WTF?
NO type of sex should be taught in schools. |
Same sex schools or coed(mixed) schools, which is better? We are debating on whether we should have same sex schools or mixed schools. Do people do better when separated from the opposite gender, or is it a myth. It's kinda hard going against same gender schools(the side I'm on) So can I have details and/or any personal experience? Thank You |
I believe co ed.
When a student goes to a samesex school, yes, they may concentrate as more, but they lack the following:
-understanding the other gender
-learning about relationships and just liking someone
-they usually have less friends of oppisite genders. an all girl/boy influence is never good. |
Same Sex Schools and I need your help? I am trying to gice a speech on why same sex schools aren't as good as coed schools but the problem is that there attends to be more people that like same sex schools than dislikes. So do any of you know some websites that have good quotes/evidence support on why same sex schools aren't as good?
Have any of you been to a same sex school before? Even if your for it can you pretend that your against it? Could you give me a story on why your same sex school wasn't that good? But since it's a speech could you give your school's name where you are from? Maybe even perhaps your first and last name? If not I totally understand. But at least the school's name please. |
| i am currently in the 8th grade at a catholic school. a lot of guys in my class are having to choose between same sex sxhools or coed. of course most girls' fathers do not agree with coed. i have a talk many people into coed schools. i think attending a school with two sexes better prepares you for life. i mean there is no choice in the real world, you must learn to work with both males and females. i think if you send your guy to a same sex school you are cheating them on many learning expierences needed for life. I HOPE I HELPED IN SOME WAY. feel free to email me |
