I found a black hairy spider with a white spot. Any ideas what it is?
I live in Washington State and saw a big black hairy spider on my porch. It looked like a mini tarantula! It's front legs were a little longer than the rest. It had a white spot on it's back with several smaller white spots around it. I could see the hair on it and I was standing back aways! I can't seem to find it online. Any ideas what this might be?
It sounds very much like Phidippus audax, one of the larger and more interesting Jumping Spiders. See the link below.
Small, black hairy looking spider in my indiana home. What is it?
I've seen tons of them in my home and when I get bit I swell pretty bad. I'm not sure what their called and I don't have a picture. The only clues I can give you is that its all black, about 1 inch, it looks hairy, can climb my walls, mostly found in my basement and has short legs. PLEASE any help is appreciated, I think i'm allergic to them.
your description is quite vague, but my guess is a jump spider,
probably a phidippus regius. (regal jump spider)

these are harmless, and very reluctant to bite.
you would have to squeeze one in the hand, or trap it against the skin
before they would be prone to bite.
bites are rarely worse than a bad mosquito bite.
Are black people generally less hairy than whites?
I see really hairy white men, but i haven't seen a really hairy black man?
It depends of the whites.
North-European white people are less hairy than Mediterranean whites. Portuguese are hairier than Norwegians. Goes to show that it has nothing to do with the climate, since Portugal is hotter than Norway.
But yes, blacks and Asians tend to be less hairy than Europeans and middle Eastern people.
How do i get rid of those black hairy carerpillars (kambli boochis) that are all over my terrace? ?
i'm from bangalore, india, and i need some info on how to get rid of these hairy itchy things.
Most of the time just let them go threw there cycle.sweep with broom use insecticide ,but probably futile,
My plants have developed a black 'hairy' growth on them which I find unsightly. Any idea for solutions?
this stuff grows really fast and as quick as I cut out the affected parts the stuff grows somewhere else. The fish and the shrimps are breeding so there is not much wrong otherwise.
It sounds like a type of Algae that's growing, which needs light and nutrients in order to grow, as it is just a type of plant. If you have a good filtration system, and minimise waste that's in the water this will reduce the nutrient level, as well as reducing the amount of light that the tank gets - site away from sunlight if possible, and keep lights on for a minimum period - or reduce the bulb strength.

Otherwise there are algae killers that are safe for fish - some aren't, so buy appropriately. Most aquatic suppliers will have a range of these, so I'd visit somewhere or buy online. There';s an example here, though I don't know where you're located, to choose an appropriate supplier. www.strictlypetsupplies.com/_0467… Tetra make alot of aquarium supplies, otherwise Interpet are well known too. Otherwise bacteria treatments added to your tank will help process waste, and keep the water safer for your fish, as excess waste chemicals are a major factor affecting fish.

Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
Black hairy spot under hibiscus leaves - help?
My hibiscus plant has developed black hairy spots under the leaves. It is exactly at the point where the stalk is attached to the leaves.

May I know what is the problem/disease and what is the remedy
It sounds most likely like some kind of scale which would require something to kill them like Shultz Houseplant Insect Killer or horticultural oil or neem oil or insecticidal soap. The last 3 have no poison so you have to hit every "spot" because they work by coating the insect and suffocating them.

It might also be some type of gall. Not enough information to rule this out.
I have some kind of black hairy stuff growing in my tank and i dont know what it is?
I have many live plants in my tank and its growing on some of them. I also have a net breeder for my baby fish and its growing all over an outside wall of it. I don't know what it is, what the cause of it is, or how to stop it. Please help me out!
It is definately black beard algae. I had the same experience and it was covering everything. I bought Siamese Algae Eaters (SAE) and overnight i can see the difference. By the second day theres no black beard algae seen anywhere in my tank. I talked to the local fish store salesperson and they said the cause was that there wasn't enough CO2 or excess potasium and/or other nutrients. If you know your whole tank's water conditions then you can figure it out from there (see what you have less of and that might be your limiting factor or dosing less of what is high in your tank). To effectively get rid of the eyesore, it would just be to get some SAE's. The only problem about this decision is that SAE's look like algae eaters and flying foxs. Below is one source of how you can tell them apart.
What would you do if you saw a hairy black spider on your computer screen?
I'm asking again, probably just wasting my time, because this question was deleted a few minutes ago. I am standing at my computer as we speak, afraid to sit down because I did have a spider on my screen and I hate spiders.
Use your mouse to chase it away.
I came across a black hairy spider with bright blue fangs. When I tried to catch it I could tell it was being ?
Agressive. It was flailing it's front crab like legs while on the move. The pictures I have seen on the web do not show flailing front legs. I did catch it after realizing it can jump. I don't even know if its poisonous but it sure is pretty. Its probably about the size of a nickle in diameter but it could be young. Please help me classify this spider. I live in SW Florida.
I'm guessing that since it could jump it was a jumping spider. A black, hairy jumping spider with blue fangs is classified as a Phidippus Audax.

There is a link with a front view of one:

Hope this helps :D
